Description
BYE BYE BIRDIE, Young Performer's Edition

Clinton Township Middle School proudly presents BYE BYE BIRDIE Young Performer's Editions.  Bye Bye Birdie is a story of a rock and roll singer who is about to be inducted into the army.  When the draft selects rock star Conrad Birdie, an Elvis Presley type, his fans are devastated, but none more than struggling songwriter Albert Peterson, whose song Birdie was just about to record.  Albert's longtime girlfriend and secretary, Rosie, pushes Albert to write a new tune that Birdie will perform on television to a fan selected at random.  Young Ohio teenager Kim McAfee is selected, much to the chagrin of her steady boyfriend Hugo, and the joy of Kim's friends and fellow Birdie fans.  Conrad Birdie's presence in Sweet Apple Ohio affects the entire town, and comedy ensues as relationships face new challenges at Birdie's arrival.  Audiences of all ages, kids and adults alike, will enjoy this jovial and fun musical that includes well known songs such as Put on a Happy Face. Book by Michael Steward, music and lyrics by Charles Strouse and Lee Adams.  Play is produced in arrangement by Tams-Whitmark Music Library, Inc.
